Tragic Loss in Jasper County

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of an 11-year-old boy following a devastating ATV accident this evening in Jasper County.

First responders arrived to find the boy trapped beneath the vehicle, while a nearby 7-year-old girl sustained minor injuries. Thanks to the quick actions of firefighters, who lifted the ATV, and a home health nurse who helped pull the boy from underneath, emergency care was swiftly provided.

He was rushed to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries but was sadly pronounced deceased.

Our hearts go out to the families affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Last Friday, a devastating car accident involved my coworker Ben, his fiancée Tori, and their new puppy. Sadly, Tori and their puppy did not survive the crash. Ben sustained serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and a broken arm.

To all women enduring emotional, physical, or mental abuse—especially when it’s tied to a cheating or unfaithful partner—please, prioritize your safety above all else.

Do not put yourself at further risk by confronting your partner or seeking them out at another woman’s home. A recent heartbreaking tragedy involved a young woman whose life was cut short after visiting her husband’s girlfriend. That visit ended in her being fatally shot—and tragically, the woman responsible may not face accountability.

No relationship is worth your life. If someone does not respect or value you, do not endanger yourself trying to confront or hold them accountable on your own. Abuse is never your fault—but protecting yourself is your right.

Please seek support from loved ones, shelters, or domestic violence resources in your area. Your safety, peace, and future are more important than any betrayal or broken relationship.

We are deeply saddened to share the tragic loss of Journee Padgett, a 19-year-old mother from Monroe County, Michigan, and her beautiful 3-month-old daughter, Alanee, who both lost their lives in a devastating car crash on Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. along S. Custer Road, east of Lewis Avenue, leaving a community shaken and grieving. Journee was a young mother with her whole life ahead of her, and baby Alanee had just begun hers. The pain of losing both so suddenly is immeasurable.
