In Loving Memory of Shea Smith. Prayers for the entire Smith family and for all who know and love Shea…. 🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻
Norval Shea Smith was born October 29, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mary Jean and Robert Smith and entered into the presence of Jesus on August 26, 2025.
Shea was born in Memphis and raised in Collierville, TN, his beloved hometown. He never had plans to settle down and marry until he met Christie. They were blessed with five beautiful children, one grandchild, and another on the way. Shea and Christie were blessed to watch the godly legacy started by their parents and grandparents continue to flourish through the lives of their children.
Shea was a faithful friend and brother to so many, and he had a servant’s heart. He was always willing to help others, fix anything, and most importantly build relationships. Christie has said many times that when she met him, he was one of the most Christ-like men she had ever met because of the way he served everyone around him. He served as a deacon at Broadway, but his service was always evident with or without the title.
Of all the things that Shea did, his children and grandchildren were his love and passion. Whether it was taking one hunting, boating, or just spending time together, his goal was to be with his loved ones. So many people called him “Uncle Shea” because he was like a second dad to so many of his children’s friends. And he always promised to protect his girls, noting that he had a backhoe and thirty acres available if there were ever any boy problems. He had a special way of inserting humor into even the most serious of truths. He had a way of making the complicated practical, and God used his humor and simplicity to bless so many.
He was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He not only served as a deacon, but played drums, worked on the praise team, played guitar, and worked in the sound booth. He had a strong faith in God’s word. He was saved in 2001 through the faithful witness of his friend, Dax Carter, who shared with him the good news of the gospel. He loved reading through the Chronological Study Bible, and you could walk into his home on any day and see his Bible and reading glasses on the kitchen table where he had left it that morning.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christie, and his five children – Jackson (Britten), Jordan, Jaden, Jevan and JoBeth and two grandchildren, Elliot and another due in October. His parents, Robert and Mary Jean Smith; brothers and sisters: Steve, Scott, Shawn (Jennie), Julie (Bill), Robbie, Craig, Jeannie (Rob), Shannon (Marisa), and Sally (Scott); Brother-in Laws: Stephen (Chelle), and Bubba (Jennifer); Nieces and Nephews: Pete, Becca, Sarah, Anna, Mary, Ellen, Robert, Katie, Richie, Rachel, Kyle, Hunter, Mollie, Mila, Ruth, Claire, Michael, Lauren, David, Maycee, Hudson, Presley, Emerson, Wesley, Ryan, Ty, Tate, Rowdy, Hudson, Tal, Treader, Austen, Colton, Annabeth and Chloe.
The family would like to thank their Broadway family for their unwavering support and love. This hard time has been made easier through the body of Christ. Shea would want to remind everyone that our only hope is Christ… in life and death! Praise God.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 Noon, all at Broadway Baptist Church. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.

Remembering Our Friend, Frances Taylor DeBease 💗🙏
I think I first met Fran about 15 years ago at an Open Mic at The Fellowship Center, and from there, a beautiful friendship blossomed. Over the years, we shared so many wonderful moments—music, parties, the yoga group we started in our basement, and countless mornings sipping coffee on the deck.

Fran was also part of our “misfits holiday” last Thanksgiving, and I’ll always cherish the memories we made together. It was a true privilege to be one of her little helpers for doctor appointments and grocery shopping. She was always great company, full of warmth and kindness.

Fran will be missed by so many. Her spirit, laughter, and love will never be forgotten. 💗

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Southbury Music Studio for students wishing to learn acoustic guitar. What a beautiful way to honor Fran’s love for music.

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my mother-in-law, Gloria Martinez, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27th.

Though our hearts are heavy, I find comfort knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband and her baby, Anthony.

  • That’s beyond frustrating, and I’m so sorry you had to go through something like that. Losing personal items, especially things as irreplaceable as family photos and keepsakes, is devastating. It must feel like a double blow—losing things that can’t be replaced and then dealing with a lack of accountability from the rental company and insurance.

It’s hard to wrap your mind around how people can act so carelessly, especially when it comes to something so personal. I can’t imagine how helpless and angry you must feel.

Have you been able to take any steps to address it, like talking to a lawyer or filing complaints with local authorities or agencies? Sometimes, even if it’s “civil” on paper, there can be ways to hold people accountable for mishandling personal property.

My sister, Heather Reedy Stuempel, and I are heartbroken to share that our beloved mother, Kay Reedy, passed away on Wednesday, August 27th.

She faced a short but courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, and while our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace.

We are grateful for the love and support from friends and family during this time. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.

It doesn’t feel real that I’m writing this. With a heavy heart, I share that my dad has passed away.

He was truly the best dad a girl could ever ask for, and I’m endlessly proud to be his daughter. There will never be another like him — his love, his wisdom, his strength, and that unforgettable sense of humor. He loved his children more deeply than words can express, and we felt that love every single day of our lives.

He touched so many lives, and I know he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Please keep our family in your prayers as we begin the difficult journey of learning to live without him. We are heartbroken, but so incredibly grateful for the time we had with him.

    REMEMBERING TRAELYNN SIBLEY 💔
Just 16 years old, Traelynn Sibley was doing something as innocent and kind as fixing another girl’s hair when her life was tragically taken—struck by bullets from a drive-by shooting.

This week, a 21-year-old woman from Lenexa was charged in connection with her murder.

There are no words for the senselessness of this loss. Traelynn deserved so much more. May justice be served, and may her memory never be forgotten.
