REST IN PEACE 💔 LaShea Bell & A’Niah Bell

We are devastated to share the heartbreaking news that LaShea Bell and her daughter, A’Niah Bell, were tragically killed in a suspected drunk driving incident in east Wichita on Saturday.

LaShea was more than a valued board member of Heroes Academy—she was a tireless advocate and true champion for young people, both within our program and throughout the broader community. Her commitment, compassion, and leadership made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Her daughter, A’Niah, had just graduated from Newman University with a master’s degree in biomedical science—a bright, accomplished young woman with so much promise ahead of her.

An 80-year-old woman was arrested for two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the crash. As of now, she is no longer listed on the Sedgwick County Jail’s website.

Our hearts are heavy with grief. Please keep the Bell family and all who loved them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly painful time.
