BESSEMER, Ala. — Community Grieves Loss of Delores Mukerson Musgrove, Fatally Mauled by Dogs in Vacant Lot

A devastating tragedy has shaken the Bessemer community following the death of Delores Mukerson Musgrove, a 50-year-old woman who was fatally mauled by a group of dogs in an overgrown, vacant lot.

The attack occurred Thursday morning in the 100 block of Martin Street, where authorities say Musgrove was walking when she was attacked. According to officials, several dogs emerged from a nearby lot and aggressively swarmed her, leaving her with critical injuries.

Emergency responders were called to the scene and found Musgrove unresponsive. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene on July 25, 2025.

Neighbors described the lot as poorly maintained and frequently occupied by loose or stray dogs, with some claiming they had filed previous complaints. The City of Bessemer and animal control services are now working together to investigate the circumstances leading up to the attack.

Bessemer Police have confirmed that multiple dogs have since been captured and are being held by animal control. The breeds involved and ownership status of the animals remain under investigation.

“This was a horrific and entirely preventable tragedy,” said one city official. “We are committed to determining exactly what happened and ensuring that steps are taken to prevent this from ever occurring again.”

Family and friends remember Musgrove as a warm-hearted, hardworking woman who loved her family and community. Her sudden loss has left loved ones devastated and has sparked renewed concern about animal control enforcement in the area.

Billings Pollice Investigating Death of 19-Year-Old Wayland Lance Limpy Jr. as Possible Homicide

BILLINGS, Mont. – Authorities have identified the young man at the center of an ongoing investigation into what Billings police are calling a “possible homicide.” The Yellowstone County Coroner’s Office confirmed on Friday that the deceased is Wayland Lance Limpy Jr., 19, of Lame Deer.

Deputy Coroner Rich Hoffman stated that the cause and manner of death remain under investigation, pending autopsy results. Limpy’s body was discovered earlier this week in a residential area near the 100 block of Broadwater Avenue, prompting a large police presence and the launch of a suspicious death investigation.

While police have not publicly released details about how Limpy died, officials say evidence at the scene led them to treat the case as a likely homicide. Detectives have been interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.

“We are taking this case very seriously,” said Lt. Matt Lennick of the Billings Police Department. “We want to assure the public that we are dedicating significant resources to determine exactly what happened and to bring any responsible party to justice.”

Allentown Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend in Execution-Style Shooting

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A Pennsylvania man is facing a series of serious charges after authorities say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment using a rooftop fire escape and unleashed a deadly barrage of gunfire, killing her in front of her 3-month-old baby and new boyfriend.

According to court documents and police reports, 27-year-old Alexander Makowka used the rooftop fire escape to access the home of 22-year-old Maya Delgado in the early morning hours of July 24. Surveillance footage and witness statements indicate Makowka entered through a second-story window and confronted Delgado in her bedroom, where he allegedly opened fire.

Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene. Her infant daughter, who was unharmed, was found nearby, along with the child’s father — Delgado’s current partner — who was reportedly held at gunpoint but not physically injured.

Makowka fled the scene but was apprehended hours later by Allentown police with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. A handgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered.

He has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and several other related offenses. He is currently being held without bail at Lehigh County Jail.

“This is a heartbreaking and deeply disturbing case,” said Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca. “No child should have to begin life witnessing such horror. Our hearts are with the victim’s family.”

Officials say child protective services have taken custody of the baby, and trauma support resources are being offered to the surviving family members.

Bradenton Police Officer Zachary Butterfield Remembered for Service, Family, and Compassion as Community Grapples with Tragic Loss

BRADENTON, Fla. – The Bradenton Police Department is mourning the devastating loss of one of its own. Officer Zachary Butterfield, a husband, father, U.S. Coast Guard veteran, and respected member of the department’s SWAT team, died by suicide on Thursday. Now, his family and fellow officers are sharing his story in the hope that it will shed light on the hidden mental health struggles many first responders face—and spark meaningful change.

Butterfield, 34, served with the department for nearly a decade and was known for his calm leadership, fierce dedication, and ability to bring levity even in high-stress situations. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

“He was our rock—strong, steady, and always looking out for everyone else,” said Chief Melanie Bevan. “But like too many of our officers, he carried heavy burdens that he kept hidden from the world. We are devastated.”

Family members say Butterfield was deeply committed to serving his community, but that the emotional toll of his job—combined with the high expectations he placed on himself—took a quiet, gradual toll.

His death has reignited conversations about the mental health crisis among law enforcement officers and the urgent need for improved support systems.

“This can’t be something we whisper about anymore,” said his wife, Allison Butterfield. “If sharing Zach’s story helps just one officer seek help, then his legacy of service continues.”

The department is now working closely with peer support organizations and mental health professionals to expand its wellness programs and provide ongoing resources for officers and their families.

A public memorial service for Officer Butterfield will be held [insert date and location], and the city has lowered flags in his honor.
