Tragic End to Search for Missing Mother and Daughter in Oakdale
OAKDALE, Calif. — A heartbreaking discovery has brought a devastating end to the search for 36-year-old Whisper Owen and her 8-month-old daughter, Sandra McCarty, who had been missing since July 15.
On Sunday, authorities confirmed that the bodies of Owen and her infant daughter were found deceased inside their submerged vehicle, which was recovered from a body of water in the Oakdale area. The discovery followed an extensive, weeks-long search that had gripped both the local community and broader Sacramento region.
The circumstances leading to the vehicle’s submersion are currently under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details pending autopsy results and further analysis.
