According to Herriman City Police, they received a report around 5:45 p.m. of two individuals struggling in the water. One of the men, Sa Mafutaga, 21, managed to reach the shore but returned to assist Mayar. Mafutaga was hospitalized and is expected to recover. Mayar had recently transferred to Omaha from North Dakota State University. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in his previous season and was described as a joyful and impactful member of the team.
