Sandra Lee (Gilchrist) Vigil

Our world shifted when Sandra Lee Vigil made her heavenly transition on July 31, 2025, at the age of 79. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence touched countless lives with grace, strength, and quiet wisdom.
Affectionately known as “San’lee” by her father and “Saulee” by her siblings, Sandra was born on May 6, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Leemar and Louise Gilchrist. She was the fifth of nine children and was lovingly raised in a close-knit, faith-filled home.
Sandra’s spiritual journey began early—baptized at the family church of St. Timothy, where her love for God and community was first nurtured. Throughout her life, she remained deeply rooted in her Christian faith, serving her family and others with compassion, humility, and steadfast love.
