RIP to My Dear Friend, Diane Wickham

RIP to My Dear Friend, Diane Wickham

It’s with a heavy heart that I write these words today. My dear friend, Diane Wickham, passed away tragically in a bicycle accident, leaving a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her. My heart aches for her family and all those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend. Diane, you will be missed more than words can express.

Diane and I have been friends since 7th grade. It’s hard to put into words what our friendship meant, but I’ll try to capture just a piece of the joy and warmth she brought into my life. We were kids, living in the moment, and we shared so many memories over the years—memories that now feel even more precious in her absence.

From the very beginning, Diane was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. She had this incredible ability to light up a room with her smile, and it wasn’t just her outer beauty that drew people to her—it was the kindness and goodness that radiated from the inside. Diane was beautiful, inside and out, and her heart was as pure as gold. She had a rare combination of compassion, humility, and generosity that made everyone who knew her feel special.

Our friendship started in Jr. High, where we met and immediately clicked. We were just like any other group of kids—laughing, sharing stories, navigating the ups and downs of adolescence. Diane, Kay Germain, and I became an inseparable trio, and we created memories that would last a lifetime. We all shared a sense of humor, always finding reasons to laugh, and a bond that was built on fun and trust. Whether it was late-night talks, inside jokes, or just being there for each other during difficult times, Diane was a constant source of joy and support.

What stood out most about Diane was her genuine nature. She never sought attention, but she was always the person who seemed to bring out the best in everyone around her. Whether she was helping someone through a rough patch or simply sharing a laugh, Diane made those around her feel like they mattered. She had a heart that was open, giving, and filled with love. She truly was the kind of friend everyone hopes to find in life.

We all went our separate ways after high school, but no matter how much time passed, Diane was always a friend I could count on. The bond we shared never weakened, and I always knew that she was someone who would be there through thick and thin. Diane was the type of person who could be counted on in the most difficult moments, offering her support without hesitation.

It’s hard to believe she’s gone. The world is a little less bright without her in it, but I know that her spirit will live on in each of us who were lucky enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished, and we will carry her kindness, laughter, and love with us for the rest of our lives.

Diane, I will miss you more than words can say. You were more than just a friend—you were family. You touched my life in ways I can’t even begin to describe, and I will be forever grateful for the time we shared. My heart goes out to your family, and I pray that they find comfort in knowing what an amazing person you were and how many lives you touched. You will always be in my thoughts, and I will carry you in my heart forever.

Rest in peace, Diane. You will never be forgotten. 💔
