Remembering Luke Laufenberg
Luke Raphael Laufenberg, son of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg, passed away on August 22, 2019, at the age of 21. He was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma in December 2017, just weeks after completing a season at Mesa Community College. After a courageous battle and a period of remission, his cancer returned in April 2019, and he was informed in July that his condition was terminal. Luke’s determination and spirit inspired many, and he was posthumously honored by the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he had been awarded a football scholarship and was expected to start at tight end.
