Police responded around 7:11 p.m. on Saturday night (August 16, 2025) to the 1600 block of Washington Boulevard following reports of gunfire. At the scene, they found three individuals with gunshot wounds—two adult men and one adult woman. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second died after being taken to the hospital. The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries. KMBC

The victims have been identified as:

Tyler Wheeler, 26, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas
Victor Loza, 23, from Bonner Springs, Kansas
Additionally, a 19-year-old woman survived the shooting. Authorities say the suspect fled before officers arrived, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 816‑474‑TIPS. KMBC
