Ohio Man Dies in Boating Accident on Norris Lake; Marks 15th Boating Fatality in Tennessee This Year
Norris Lake, TN — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has confirmed the tragic death of Kevin Allen, a 53-year-old man from Middletown, Ohio, following a boating accident Wednesday evening on Norris Lake.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the Hickory Point subdivision. According to a TWRA news release, wildlife officers were dispatched after receiving a report of a man who had gone overboard and did not resurface. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene, and recovery efforts were launched shortly thereafter.
Allen’s body was later recovered with the assistance of local emergency services. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected at this time. Authorities have not indicated whether alcohol or unsafe boating practices were factors.
Allen’s death marks the 15th fatal boating incident in Tennessee in 2025, underscoring the continued importance of boating safety as the summer season progresses. TWRA officials urge all boaters to wear life jackets, avoid alcohol while operating watercraft, and remain vigilant on the water.
