NEW YORK, NY — The vibrant heart of Manhattan was silenced Monday by a horrific act of violence that claimed multiple lives, leaving the city reeling in sorrow and disbelief. Among the victims was Aland Etienne, a beloved 32-year-old security guard, community member, and proud union member of 32BJ SEIU.
Etienne, known for his dedication, courage, and kindness, was killed while carrying out his duty—protecting others. In the face of danger, he stood firm, embodying the very spirit of service that defined his life. His tragic passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones, colleagues, and the wider community he helped safeguard every day.
Aland’s union, friends, and neighbors have described him as “selfless,” “steadfast,” and “a protector by nature.” His commitment to keeping others safe will never be forgotten.
