Many have heard the heartbreaking news of the small plane crash north of Kearney on Wednesday night. Among the lives lost was Dr. Mark Meyer, a beloved orthopedic surgeon who served Gothenburg Memorial Hospital for many years.
Dr. Meyer was a cornerstone of our medical community during a time when visiting specialists were few and far between, according to Deb Hecox, RN. His dedication ensured that our patients received expert care close to home. Though he last practiced here over a decade ago, his impact continues to be felt by the many patients whose lives he touched, she said.
Deb shared that those who knew Dr. Meyer will remember his big, friendly personality—a warmth that made him not only a skilled physician but also a comforting presence to those in need.
Gothenburg Health honors Dr. Meyer’s life, his service, and the lasting mark he left on Gothenburg. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and all affected by this tragic loss.
