In Loving Memory of Officer Abiola Errico
New York, NY – On July 10, 2025, the New York City Police Department announced the heartbreaking loss of Officer Abiola Errico, who tragically died by suicide. Her passing has struck a deep and painful chord throughout the NYPD and across the broader New York City community.
Officer Errico served with courage, dedication, and heart — committing herself each day to the protection and well-being of others. She was not only a devoted officer, but also a friend, a colleague, and a source of strength for many. Her loss is immeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
This tragedy also serves as a solemn reminder of the unseen burdens that so many in public service carry. As we grieve the loss of Officer Errico, we must also renew our commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of those who serve our communities.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fellow officers. May she be remembered not for the way she died, but for the life she lived — one marked by service, strength, and sacrifice.
