In Loving Memory of Commissioner Sheila Stanton

In Loving Memory of Commissioner Sheila Stanton

We are devastated and deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of our beloved Commissioner, Sheila Stanton.

On Sunday, August 31, Commissioner Stanton was struck by a vehicle while exiting a local business. Despite the swift efforts of paramedics, she did not survive her catastrophic injuries.

Commissioner Stanton was a dedicated resident of Kirkland for nearly 40 years and a tireless advocate for her community. She was widely known for her compassion and leadership—organizing the area’s Juneteenth celebrations and personally coordinating and serving meals to the unhoused with unwavering commitment.

As the first CAAA Commissioner to represent Kirkland, Sheila brought her fierce advocacy and principled voice to the table. She never hesitated to ask hard questions, often challenging routine answers and demanding substance over form. Reappointed to a second term this past January, she continued to serve with distinction and passion.

Sheila Stanton’s legacy is one of service, integrity, and love for her community. Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt—not only within the Commission but across all the lives she touched.

She will be missed greatly.
