In Loving Memory of Andrew McBride 💔

In Loving Memory of Andrew McBride 💔
Many of you have seen the heartbreaking news about the tragic crash at Laburnum Ave. and Williamsburg Rd. on September 4th that took the life of a Little Caesars worker. What you may not know is that this was our friend — my childhood friend — Andrew McBride, and his loss has absolutely shattered his family and our Varina/Henrico County community.

A GoFundMe has been created to support Andrew’s incredible family during this unimaginable time. If you’re able, please donate or share the link:

Andrew will be remembered for his brilliance and perseverance, qualities that stayed with him well beyond our school days. And if you knew the McBride family, you know how much they’ve given to this community.

Bobby brought Friday night lights alive at Varina High School as a star in the marching band.
Laura, his mom, brought joy to countless kids as “🦸🏻‍♀️Zero the Hero” and so many other fun characters. Her energy, humor, and generosity left lasting impressions that many of us still carry today.

Even if our memories of school blur, everyone remembers Andrew’s mind, Bobby’s spirit, and Laura’s heart. We were lucky to grow up with them. 🌞

If you have memories or words of love to share, please consider posting them here, sending a DM, or sharing them on the GoFundMe page — and most importantly, with Laura and Bobby directly. Let’s remind them of the light they’ve brought to all of us.

Personally, I’ll never forget how this community came together after a similar tragedy over 20 years ago — my dad LOVED the McBrides — and I know we can rise to support them now.

🤍 Please note: While initial reports suggested a cause of the crash, the facts are still unfolding. We may need to stand with the family as legal matters develop. ⚖️👀
