It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Amir Warnick, a beloved 15‑year‑old student at South Sumter High School. Amir passed away due to an asthma‑related medical emergency on August 14, 2025—on the eve of what should have been an exciting first day of school Just In News.

Amir was a remarkable young man who touched the lives of everyone around him with his kindness, respectfulness, and gentle spirit. Always greeting others with a warm smile, his dedication to his studies and his willingness to help peers and teachers alike reflected a maturity beyond his years Just In News.

In the wake of this devastating loss, South Sumter High School has made grief counselors available to support students, staff, and families—emphasizing that nobody needs to face such grief alone Just In News.

As this new school year begins, one seat in our classrooms will remain empty—but Amir’s light and spirit will continue to echo through the hallways, memories, and hearts of all who knew him. His passing serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, connection, and holding our loved ones close Just In News.

To honor Amir’s memory, his family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Sumter Schools Enhancement Foundation. All funds raised will go directly to the family to assist with burial expenses and support them during this incredibly difficult time Just In News.
