Huntington Mourns the Loss of 6-Year-Old Julian Kay After Tragic Drowning
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington community is grieving the tragic loss of 6-year-old Julian Kay, who drowned during a daycare field trip on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Officials report that the heartbreaking incident occurred while Julian was participating in an outing organized by his daycare center. At some point during the trip, Julian was found unresponsive in the water. Despite immediate efforts by staff and emergency responders to revive him, Julian was later pronounced dead.
The daycare center has expressed deep sorrow and is cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The community has rallied around Julian’s family, offering support and condolences during this unimaginably difficult time.
Friends, neighbors, and local leaders have organized a vigil to honor Julian’s memory, emphasizing the need for heightened safety measures on future outings. “Julian was a bright light with a joyful spirit,” said one family member. “His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.”
