UPDATE ON MAY 5 SHOOTING INCIDENT: ARREST AND CHARGES FILED

Following a thorough and ongoing investigation into the tragic shooting incident that occurred at the intersection of South Fifth Street and Martin Luther King Drive on the afternoon of Monday, May 5, 2025, the Amite City Police Department has made significant progress in the case.

Today, authorities have formally charged Terran Felder, a 19-year-old Black female resident of Hammond, Louisiana, in connection with the incident. Ms. Felder has been charged with the following:

• One count of Principal to First Degree Murder

• One count of Principal to Attempted First Degree Murder

• One count of Riot

• One count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile

These charges stem from an incident that resulted in the tragic loss of one life and left another individual injured. The event has deeply affected our community, and we extend our sincerest condolences to the victims and their families during this difficult time.

The Amite City Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to justice and transparency. We continue to actively investigate all aspects of this case, and our officers are diligently working to gather additional information and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
