Ector County Mourns the Loss of Johnny Saenz in Tragic Crash on US 385
ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — The tight-knit community of Andrews and surrounding areas is in mourning following a devastating two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 385 Friday evening that claimed the life of 33-year-old Johnny Saenz, a beloved Andrews resident, and left three others injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Just In NewsMidland Reporter-TelegramAccident Injury NewsHouston Injury Lawyer.
The Incident
The fatal crash took place at approximately 7:15 p.m. on August 8, 2025, near mile marker 342 on US 385 Midland Reporter-TelegramAccident Injury News. DPS reports that a 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer towing a trailer, driven by a 22-year-old man from Amarillo, experienced a front left tire blowout while traveling northbound in the outside lane. The crash remains under active investigation by DPS.
Remembering Johnny Saenz
Johnny is fondly remembered by his family, friends, and the community as a generous, hardworking individual who valued his loved ones deeply. Born and raised in Andrews, he was the owner and operator of Sanbor Builders, and had previously worked as a forklift operator before launching his successful business. Beyond his professional life, Johnny’s passions included fishing and hosting cookouts—endeavors that displayed his warm and inclusive nature. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he was a dedicated family man, remembered most for his kindness, humor, and generosity toward all who knew him Legacy.
He is survived by his wife, Ileana Esparza Saenz, their three children—Mateo, Catalina, and Ximena—his parents, siblings, extended family, and the many community members whose lives he touchingly impacted Legacy.
