COLLETTSVILLE, N.C. — The Caldwell County community is grappling with sorrow and unanswered questions following the tragic discovery of a body in the Collettsville area on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, under the leadership of Sheriff Kevin H. Bean, has launched a death investigation after the remains of 37-year-old Casey Shaun Wilcox, of Hudson, were found near water in a wooded area off Old Wilkesboro Road.
According to Sheriff Bean, deputies were dispatched to the scene following a report from a local hiker who spotted the remains around midday. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause and manner of death.
“We are committed to uncovering the truth behind Mr. Wilcox’s passing and providing answers to his family and our community,” said Sheriff Bean during a brief press statement.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet released details regarding possible suspects or foul play. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
The community mourns the loss of a familiar face as friends and family remember Wilcox for his contributions to the area.
