Daniel (Danny-Too Tall) Lewis, born in Newport News, VA, passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 73.

In 1971, Danny accepted a basketball scholarship — a testament to his incredible talent and dedication to the game. He was known not only for his height and skill on the court, but also for his larger-than-life presence off of it. His kindness, sharp wit, and deep love for his family and friends left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Danny’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to share in his journey. He was a beloved son, brother, father, friend, and teammate.

Public’s Help Needed: NYPD Seeks Suspect in Briarwood Armed Robbery

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a violent armed robbery that occurred in Briarwood on the night of Saturday, August 16.

According to police, the gunman entered a convenience store and shot two employees during the robbery. The victims’ conditions have not yet been publicly released.
