Butte Mourns the Tragic Loss of Duncan Brass, 39, in Hit-and-Run Incident
Duncan Brass, 39, tragically lost his life early Saturday morning, July 19, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Locust and Garfield Streets in Butte, Montana.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m., and according to local authorities, the vehicle involved fled the scene immediately after the collision. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle was traveling south on Garfield Street and turned west onto Grand Avenue following the impact.
Emergency personnel responded quickly, but despite lifesaving efforts, Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene. The Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department, along with other agencies, is actively investigating the case as a fatal hit-and-run and is asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
Duncan Brass was known for his warm heart, sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Friends and family describe him as someone who brought laughter and strength to every room he entered. His sudden and senseless loss has left the Butte community grieving deeply.
