What Happened:

On Jan. 20, Youngblut allegedly shot and killed Agent Maland during an immigration-related traffic stop on I-91 in Coventry, Vermont.

Youngblut reportedly exited a Toyota Prius without warning and opened fire, striking Maland fatally in the neck.

Another agent returned fire, wounded Youngblut, and fatally shot Bauckholt, who was allegedly reaching for his weapon.

Maland died at North Country Hospital at about 4 p.m.

A Glock 23 .40-caliber pistol was used; casings were recovered at the scene.

Youngblut and Bauckholt were seen wearing tactical gear, and suspicious behavior was reported before the shooting.

Zajko, a friend of the pair, is accused of illegally purchasing firearms used in the shooting and is a person of interest in her parents’ 2022 double homicide in Maryland.
