BRAMPTON, ON — A tragic and deeply unsettling series of events has shaken the community of Brampton and sparked a province-wide manhunt. Police have identified 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper as the suspect in a fatal shooting and abduction that unfolded Tuesday afternoon, leaving 29-year-old Savannah Kulla dead and residents across southern Ontario on high alert.
According to Peel Regional Police, officers were called to a residence near Hickorybush Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Savannah Kulla suffering from critical injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly identified Deschepper as the primary suspect and issued an Amber Alert after it was determined that a young child had been abducted in connection with the incident. The alert was later cancelled after the child was found safe, though the suspect remains at large.
Police warn that Deschepper is considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a black 2022 Ford Edge with Ontario license plate CYJS 402. Residents are urged not to approach him and to contact 911 immediately if he is spotted.
The investigation remains ongoing, with multiple law enforcement agencies involved in the search. Community members are left reeling from the tragedy, as vigils and tributes to Kulla begin to appear both online and at the scene.
