Kayleigh was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident this morning in Jefferson Hills. She was a probationary member of Clairton Volunteer Fire Department 123 and was in the process of completing her essentials class, beginning what promised to be a dedicated and courageous journey in the fire service.

Though early in her service, Kayleigh had already shown a commitment to helping others and a heart for serving her community. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her and by the entire first responder family.

Rest easy, Kayleigh. You will never be forgotten. 🔥💔🕊

My Beautiful, Strong, and Genuine Friend

My heart is heavy as I remember someone who meant the world to me—and to so many others. My dear friend was a rare kind of person: beautiful in every way, full of strength, and truly genuine. She had a heart so big that she would drop everything to help someone in need, no matter the time or circumstance.

She was a gift—to me, to all of us who knew her, and to every student lucky enough to cross her path. Her kindness was boundless, her laughter contagious, and her ability to make people feel seen and loved was unmatched.

We couldn’t help but love and adore her. It was impossible not to. That’s just who she was.

She may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Her light lives on in the countless lives she touched. 💔

One of Our Own Needs Us, Rodeo Family

Rodeo family, we’ve got a heavy heart today. One of our own—the cowboy with the beautiful blonde hair peeking out from under his hat, who’s been working the roughstock gate at Cheyenne all week—was critically injured yesterday during semifinals action at The Daddy of ’em All.

He was kicked in the chest by a bareback horse in a freak accident. He’s now fighting hard, and he needs all the strength, love, and prayers we can send his way.

This cowboy is more than just a familiar face behind the chutes. He’s part of what makes Cheyenne run. He shows up, works hard, and helps keep the action going safely and smoothly. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.

Alvina M. Hanson, a centenarian from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on September 4, 1923, in Star Township, Pennington County, to Eddie and Hannah (Bakken) Arveson, she was baptized in the Lutheran faith in her Bakken grandparents’ home on October 17, 1923, and confirmed on July 18, 1937. Alvina married Alfred G. Hanson on June 16, 1946, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, rural Trail. Together, they had two daughters, Pamela and Beverly. As Alfred’s career with Midland relocated the family to various towns, Alvina worked alongside him in Middle River and Hayfield as a bookkeeper, in Thief River Falls as a nurse’s aide and teacher’s aide, and in Warren as a kindergarten aide before settling back in Thief River Falls in 1980. In their retirement, she and Alfred worked for their daughter, Pam, in the Auction-2-Sell business for 24 years. trftimes.com

Alvina was known for her love of embroidery, crocheting, canning, and baking, with her donuts being particularly renowned. She was an avid quilter, creating quilts for her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several other family members. She and Alfred enjoyed fishing and winemaking. Alvina will be remembered for her willingness to help, her wise advice, and her insightful ability to give what was needed with unconditional love. trftimes.com

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Cwikla of Thief River Falls and Beverly (Wayne) Torgerson of Warren; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; her brother, Lloyd (Mae) Arveson of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Lafayette, CA — One person died early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 24 near 3322 Mount Diablo Boulevard, local authorities reported. The incident occurred around 4:18 a.m., just before the Pleasant Hill Road offramp. The eastbound vehicle veered off the roadway and came to rest off the highway, near the shoulder. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the driver was pronounced dead at the site. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
