AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has released new details surrounding a deadly shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of July 19, claiming the life of 20-year-old Comarri Thompson.
According to APD, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:10 a.m. from a woman who reported she had been shot and that another person was unresponsive. The call led authorities to the 800 block of East Braker Lane, near the intersection with Dessau Road, in northeast Austin.
When officers arrived, they found Comarri Thompson in a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who placed the call—reportedly Thompson’s girlfriend—was also injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the couple was parked when a white vehicle approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The shooting is being treated as a targeted drive-by, though no suspects have been identified publicly and no arrests have been made.
APD is urging anyone with information, surveillance footage, or tips related to the case to contact their Homicide Unit at 512-974-TIPS or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 or via austincrimestoppers.org.
