A Houston mother is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her son after a crash that claimed three lives early Sunday morning in southwest Houston.
Family members identified one of the victims as 23-year-old Ronald “Trey” Harris. Investigators say the crash happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of West Orem Drive and Almeda Road, when a driver—believed to be intoxicated—ran a red light and slammed into the car Harris was riding in.
All three people inside Harris’s vehicle were killed. The driver accused of causing the crash, 29-year-old Tony Jerome Oliver, survived and was taken to the hospital. Police say Oliver’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, and he now faces multiple counts of intoxication manslaughter.
Family and friends gathered at the crash site for a candlelight vigil to remember Harris and the two other victims—a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman whose names have not yet been released. Loved ones prayed, shared memories, and called for strength as they tried to make sense of the heartbreaking loss.
Three other vehicles were involved in the collision, but no serious injuries were reported among those drivers or passengers.
