ASHLAND, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a devastating crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Sunday afternoon in Ashland County.
Investigators report that 27-year-old Noah David Carmel Rogers of Shreve was riding a 1995 Honda VF750C motorcycle southbound on State Route 511 when he attempted to pass two other motorcycles. During the maneuver, Rogers lost control of his motorcycle and went off the right side of the roadway.
According to OSHP, the motorcycle struck a ditch and a utility pole, ejecting Rogers from the bike. Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene, but Rogers was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.
Authorities say Rogers was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging all motorists and motorcyclists to exercise caution on the roads and to always wear appropriate safety gear.
