A Demand for Justice, Transparency, and Change
As a concerned Black citizen, I’m calling on our community to unite in this critical moment. The tragic loss of Rajon Belt‑Stubblefield, and far too many others, underscores the systemic failures in our justice system—and the real, devastating consequences our families endure.
Tonight’s vigil was a solemn and striking reminder: we come together in grief… but we must also demand accountability. Rajon was shot in front of his son—a trauma that no child should endure. His family now bears the weight of injustice.
To our community leaders, activists, clergy, candidates, and elected officials who stood with the family—thank you. Your presence showed you understand that mourning must fuel action.
I was honored to hold space with the family and our neighbors in prayer. But grief alone cannot demand policy change. The footage shared by citizens clearly shows unnecessary and lethal force used in a situation that could have been de-escalated with non-lethal alternatives. This isn’t just an outrage—it’s a betrayal of the badge we trust to protect us.
Here’s what we demand:
-
Immediate release of all footage—citizen and police cameras
-
Firing of the officer involved, with no excuses and no delays
-
Enforcement of policies demanding officer accountability and ensuring non-lethal force is prioritized
To our elected officials and law enforcement leadership: silence from you is unacceptable. Action is demanded.
Racial injustice within policing is not someone else’s battle—it’s a political fight that begins with each of us holding leaders accountable, now.
We owe this to Rajon, his traumatized son, and every family impacted by this violence. We will stay organized. We will stay loud. We will not stop until real, tangible change is achieved.
