Emergency services responded to reports of the incident around 9:50 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Upon arrival, they discovered an elderly man, believed to be in his 60s, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to the chest. Witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing south along the Pacific Highway shortly after the assault. Around 1:00 PM, a 53-year-old man voluntarily attended Newcastle City Police Station and was arrested. As of now, no charges have been laid, and police have established a crime scene at the location.
