Allentown Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend in Execution-Style Shooting
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A Pennsylvania man is facing a series of serious charges after authorities say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment using a rooftop fire escape and unleashed a deadly barrage of gunfire, killing her in front of her 3-month-old baby and new boyfriend.
According to court documents and police reports, 27-year-old Alexander Makowka used the rooftop fire escape to access the home of 22-year-old Maya Delgado in the early morning hours of July 24. Surveillance footage and witness statements indicate Makowka entered through a second-story window and confronted Delgado in her bedroom, where he allegedly opened fire.
Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene. Her infant daughter, who was unharmed, was found nearby, along with the child’s father — Delgado’s current partner — who was reportedly held at gunpoint but not physically injured.
Makowka fled the scene but was apprehended hours later by Allentown police with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. A handgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered.
He has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and several other related offenses. He is currently being held without bail at Lehigh County Jail.
“This is a heartbreaking and deeply disturbing case,” said Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca. “No child should have to begin life witnessing such horror. Our hearts are with the victim’s family.”
Officials say child protective services have taken custody of the baby, and trauma support resources are being offered to the surviving family members.
