A Heartbreaking Loss in Volusia County, Florida
What was meant to be a joyful, love-filled getaway turned into an unimaginable tragedy in Volusia County, Florida, on Friday, June 21, 2025. Jake Rosencranz, a 29-year-old newlywed from Colorado, tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning while enjoying the ocean with his wife.
The young couple had traveled to Florida to celebrate their new life together, but just before 12:30 p.m., their celebration took a tragic turn. Jake was struck while in the water, leaving his wife and the rest of their family and friends devastated by the loss.
Though lightning strikes are an extremely rare occurrence, this tragedy is a powerful reminder of the unpredictability and beauty of nature. Our hearts go out to Jake’s wife, his family, and all those who loved him. No words can truly comfort them during this difficult time, but we hope they find solace in the love and support surrounding them.
