The community is mourning the devastating loss of 47-year-old Louisnes Fedon and his 3-year-old granddaughter, Kimberly Asa, two of the civilian victims killed in the recent UPS cargo plane crash in Louisville.

Authorities say Fedon and Kimberly were at a local scrapyard near the airport collecting metal when the cargo plane exploded moments after takeoff.

Fedon, a father of four and grandfather of three, was remembered by friends and family as “an angel on earth” — a man known for his generosity, kindness, and commitment to helping others. Loved ones said he “helped raise a whole village” and was a familiar, friendly face in his community.

He was a regular visitor to the scrapyard, collecting metal to support his family. Tributes from former supervisors and friends described him as “a pleasure to be around” with “a smile that was unmatched.”

His loss has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew him. Fundraising efforts are now underway to support his family as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.

Kimberly, only three years old, was accompanying her grandfather at the time of the accident. Family friends described her as “a joyful little girl who loved being with her grandpa” and said her death was “a heartbreaking case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

The community has come together to honor the memory of both victims through vigils, donations, and messages of love and support. Their family continues to receive an outpouring of compassion from across Louisville and beyond as they grieve this profound loss.
