1-YEAR-OLD SHOT IN WELLS-GOODFELLOW NEIGHBORHOOD
ST. LOUIS, MO — Just before 8:45 p.m. on Monday, September 1st, St. Louis City Police responded to a reported shooting at a gas station in the 5500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found a 25-year-old woman with her 1-year-old daughter, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. The mother told police the shooting occurred inside their home in the 1500 block of Clara Avenue, where she had been cooking while the child’s father, also 25, was present.
The father claimed that an unknown subject fired shots into the home from outside, striking the child. It remains unclear why the mother went to the gas station to seek help, and police are still investigating the exact circumstances and validity of these statements.
🚑 The child was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
🚔 The child’s father was taken into custody at the residence on unrelated charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
